Absolutely Rebecca. Because of this I feel uncomfortable being in public with more than one other Black person or person of colour, especially if there is not a white person in the group. Two Black people together are likely friends or colleagues, three or more is a gang and likely up to something.
I will never forget the lunch I had at work before the lockdown with about 8 other Black colleagues, you can imagine the looks and head turning as we walked through the staff restaurant together. Even though I loved the lunch meeting, I think we all felt a little uncomfortable by the looks. I hope we can meet again when we are back to work in the office again.
