Another great article Laura. In the early days of my antiracism journey I use BAME and BIPOC but quickly came to realise this was being used as a pejorative term to lump together anyone that isn’t white. I’ve moved onto Black and Brown mainly because my daughters who are mixed still receive the same levels of racial discrimination as me.

But in situations like the massacre at the weekend this was an attack on Black people, sorry but this cannot be stated any other way.

Thank you, Keith! I think a lot of us fell into the acronyms upon first learning of them. As Black people, we've always wanted other non-Whites to stand with us against the system and so, initially, it felt like we'd finally found some common ground…
