As a Brit living in Switzerland, I was traumatised and shaken to my core by what I saw on Tuesday morning. This to me was like a form of PTSD because I was reliving past violent racist incidents in my life.
I know that your article is focused on the white working class, but I lay the blame squarely at the door of the white ruling classes. These are the ones who created and perpetuate the systems that enable racism in the white working class.
The whole aim is to create and maintain division in order to retain control over the majority of the population. We saw the same on January 6th in the US, we saw this in the run up to WW2 and we can see this across the globe.
I love this quote by the character Lester Freamon from the TV series “The Wire”; if you replace drugs, drug addicts, and drug dealers with racism, not racists and racists this quote is remarkably insightful.
