Brian, your experiences and perspectives in the US mirror mine in the UK and Western Europe. I completely understand what you mean by liking music that is not considered “black enough”, one of my all time favourite bands is Queen.

My experiences in Kenya and Uganda certainly challenged my view of what it is to be Black, just as with your experiences in Botswana.

It’s only recently that I realised being called “the whitest Black guy” was not a compliment and that it’s overtly racist even when it comes from those closest to you.
