Excellent response, well done.
My wife and I have had to deal with this for the past 30 years and it’s only in the last two years that we have fully understood the psychological impact this form of microaggressive racism has had on our daughters. For my eldest this has led to long bouts of depression and the constant fear of another episode.
As your children grow and develop and understand that they can be “othered” by both Black and white, help them to embrace their Black identity because in white majority or white dominated societies they will always be seen as Black. They need your help to accept their blackness even when they desire with all their young heart to be white like their mother.
