I agree with all of the “talks” you mentioned and there are many others that are designed to either set an expectation in the mind of our offspring that they will not have the same advantages as their white friends, or how to act when faced with all forms of white authority: police, legal officials, teachers, door security, shop staff, etc.
When I said that Black people live a dystopian existence I was not joking.
I’m in the penultimate chapter of Black and British by Professor David Olusoga. This book has been an eye opening experience as I learnt of the blatant systemic racism specifically towards Black people.
This is a strongly recommended read.
