When reading Rebecca’s posts you get the impression that she has this blatant and obvious experiences of racism every day. I’m not sure how long you have lived in Switzerland? I’ve been living here over 20 years and I’ve not had the experiences Rebecca describes but then when I read one of her posts it triggers a similar experience I had many years ago or more recently that I had brushed off.

In my 20 years in Switzerland and nearly 40 years previously in the UK, I could probably recount many and as traumatic experiences. I choose not to as this re-traumatises me and I really don’t need that in my life. I know that Rebecca has lived far longer in Switzerland than I, and at a time when racism was far more in your face.

Please don’t dismiss Rebecca’s posts as irrelevant because they have not happened to you even as a Black person. Consider yourself fortunate that you have not had to live through this for most of your life.
