Thanks for sharing Rebecca, this sort of blatant racism occurs far too often and when it happens often we are gaslighted by friends even family saying “you must be imagining it” but we know. Even when it’s not so subtle as in your case.

How do we turn things around, should we complain to the manager or write a letter to head office?

I would love to see companies publish instances of calling out and reprimanding claims of discrimination. This way it might encourage more of us to report more instances.
