This question can only be valid if you believe that Jesus is not a part of the Godhead and therefore has no right to ask our Father to forgive them. He Jesus is part of our trinitarian God and therefore has every right. We are not God so we have no right to ask for God to forgive David Chauvin, except through the access afforded us by the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. Because we have this faith and his righteousness, we can also rest assured that God has already forgiven him. See my response to your article for more of my perspectives on your question.
