Yes things are better, I’ve been living in Basel for more than 20 years and in the early years the racism I experienced was blatant and obvious, even without understanding the language you can feel it. This is interpersonal racism

Now the racism I experience is internalised, it’s not obvious it’s not the blatant n-word or disrespectful treatment in stores. What we experience now are the sideways looks, the serving others first when in a queue, the under the breath comments that I can understand now.
